The Pearl

What happens when you touch the pearl of a girl.
She notices,
it's setting off an early
warning system, even in the morning.
Is it psychological at first,
a moment of determining her thirst
and whether her libido will be born
again,
a struggle not unlike a birth
for many women. Though you may have heard
it said that they are closer to the earth
I've also heard they're closer to a word
and they will pivot off it like a pearl,
the slippery connotations of a girl,

who is not a ready invitation
or an automatic situation.
